Samour Stage

So we keep talkin' about the Bash on Bartlett and last night was our first trial run, from stage and sound setup, to the setlist.  It required quite a bit of forethought (mainly on Rob's part) and grunt work.   Rob had a drum riser built for Spenser and that was delivered on Friday.  That same day we also transformed our family room into a sound stage.  All the couches went into the formal living room and all the music gear from the loft came downstairs.  It was quite an undertaking, but the whole family pitched in, and had some fun while doing it.

Once the riser was placed, then all the instruments and gear came downstairs as well, and voila - the Samour Stage!

Then it was soundcheck time.

Bobby, the bassist, was the first to arrive so he participated in the soundcheck too.

Then Rueben and Aaron arrived, and it was time to jam.

It was a fun time, although we quickly learned that more practice is needed before the real show.

But perhaps the best thing about the night was the keyboardist.  Who's that you may ask?  That would be Sienna, our resident Samour Sounds rebel, who groans to even push record on the video camera.  But even in the midst of guests, she jumped behind the keyboard and accompanied us on Cee Lo Green's 'Forget You', and a surprise treat, The Band Perry's 'If I Die Young.'  Check it out....

 

I think Rob had that 'shit-eating' grin as he basked in the glow of his daughter's participation.  Prior to that jaw-dropping moment, Rob got in on the action as well.  Here's 'Heaven's on Fire.'



It was quite a night!  Not perfect by any means, but certainly one we can be proud of. 

The aftermath required much cleanup and luckily all band members pitched in to alleviate the load.  This is what our family room looked like last night.
