Spenser is beginning to see what life will be like in high school next year by experiencing the practice and competition schedule that a member must endure. Two weeks ago he performed at William Field's Evaluation Show, and today Perry High hosted the first competition of the Winter Guard and Drumline Season, where both he and Sienna showed their mettle!
Being a junior high with not much of a budget, students were asked to come up with a uniform that was black and red. The theme of the show is 'Dark Shadows' and it starts with Spenser trying to escape a mirror of which he fears. So the front of the shirt mimics a heartbeat, and the back 'flat-lines.' I thought it kept with the theme and the rising blood pressure and anxiety that he must be feeling.
Once on site, they spent quite a bit of time practicing.
I just love the look of drums lined up!
Got a picture with my guy right before they went to staging.
It's showtime!
They were dark, shadowy, and superb! Check it out!
Sienna performed too and here she is in costume.
Their show is called 'Wallpaper' and is about the walls coming to life in a young girl's bedroom. Strange? Yes.
Sienna's team took 4th place (out of 6) and Spenser's took 1st! (only team in the division however)
Way to go S and S!
